Dear Mount Baker ARC leadership,

The Washington State Guard (WSG) is working on implementing a communications group to support the Washington National Guard (WNG) by providing emergency communications at local armories across the state.  WSG communicators will provide communications, when requested, between the local armories and  WNG headquarters at Camp Murray.  WSG communicators may also deploy to emergencies or disasters to provide emergency communications as needed.  This communications effort is also being supported by the Washington Army Military Auxiliary Radio System.

Washington State Guard is a part of the Washington Organized Militia and serves alongside the Army National Guard, Air National Guard and the Emergency Management Division within the Washington Military Department.  WSG soldiers are volunteers who serve the citizens of our state without compensation.  They provide their own uniforms, which are the Army Combat Uniform.  When activated under state active duty orders food and lodging may be provided.

Affiliating with WSG requires minimal paper work, previous military experience is desirable, but not required.  Citizens between 18 and 59 may join the Washington State Guard.  WSG provides an excellent opportunity to serve the citizens of our great state.  More information about WSG can be found at:

Will you please help us by informing your membership of this opportunity to serve our state and to put their communications skills to good use?

Thank you very much,

Monte L. Simpson, K2MLS/AAR0OK
