MBARC May 2017 MEETING on Tuesday

Good day to you. It’s our monthly meeting time again. Please plan to join us for another enjoyable and informative meeting at the Ferndale Library on Tuesday, May 9th at 7:00PM. This month our meeting plans to be yet another exciting and very informative one. As always, we plan to have a general, hopefully lively discussion about ham radio and many of the “ham” activities and developments that interest and influence us here in the great Pacific Northwest, the surrounding counties, and elsewhere.
During our monthly Board meeting in May we discussed the purchase of Red Cross digital equipment with the Raspberry pi and UDRC for use with Winlink.  We voted to purchase the equipment with our Sunshine Fund. We will summarize our discussion and decision at the meeting. It’s an exciting opportunity for us.
Also, Don Boyer, W7AIN, will discuss the Field Day preparations. For your files and log books, the Field Day contact information is as follows:
Don W7AIN don.boyer@comcast.net (206) 719-7446
Kerry KE7ZTZ kerry@kercat@gmail.com {360) 739-2455
Doug KE7QPL hwsalkeld@yahoo.com (360) 319-5058
Also, Wes, W7WSL, plans to compare his antenna analyzer with a commercial one, using a slinky antenna (see photo below for an example).
And, if time permits, we plan to continue our discussion of digital equipment and the opportunities available to anyone who wants to pursue this intriguing and interesting aspect of amateur radio.
We will have our monthly Ham Swap & Shop table set up in the room so if you have a neat piece of ham equipment lying around collecting dust or taking up too much room consider bringing it along for someone to consider “swapping or shopping.”
We look forward to visiting with you on Tuesday. We will have plenty of wonderful, tasty cookies, and freshly brewed coffee. Also, don’t forget to pay your 2017 dues if you haven’t done so already. As always, our treasurer, Rich, will be there eager to accept your dues.
Of note is the fact that our recent list of Mailchimp subscribers is now at 170 and the number continues to grow. How exciting for us.
Finally, for now, we would like to remind you that elections to serve on the Board for the 2017-2018 year will be discussed at the meeting so consider nominating either yourself or someone else to run for the Board’s seats. I know my seat as Secretary will be open as I will be spending next year on my academic sabbatical leave.
